Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (NSE: ADANIPORTS) reported port cargo volume of 51 MMT in October 2026, up 27% year on year, it said in a filing on 02 Nov 2026. The company also reported logistics rail volume of 62,653 TEUs for the month and 3,75,416 TEUs for the year to date, the latter down 10%.

Cargo growth came from dry cargo and containers

The company's October update shows port cargo growth across its main segments. Dry cargo volume grew 36% year on year and containers grew 21%, while liquids grew 21%, according to the filing. The filing prints the liquids figure without a sign, so its direction is not confirmed here.

For the year to date, port cargo reached 331 MMT, up 16%, led by dry cargo at 18% and containers at 16%. The October growth rate is therefore higher than the year-to-date rate, and the company's own figures show the faster pace in the latest month.

    Domestic cargo and rail volumes

Domestic port cargo volume grew 18% year on year in the period, which is slower than the total growth of 27% reported for October. The filing does not split tonnes between domestic and international cargo.

Logistics rail volume in October was 62,653 TEUs, against 62,302 TEUs in September and up 4% on a year earlier. The company says rail volume continued to deliver sequential improvement. Year-to-date rail volume of 3,75,416 TEUs was down 10% on the same period last year.

What the volume update means for Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone's shareholders

The update reports operating volumes only. It does not carry revenue, margin or profit figures for these volumes, and the company's latest reported quarter is Q2 FY27, with consolidated total income of ₹11,609.77 crore and net profit of ₹3,682.44 crore.

Not stated: the reason for the volume growth, the prior-year base in tonnes or TEUs, and any outlook for coming months. The filing also does not give the sign of the liquids growth figure.
