Net profit grew faster than income, and an exceptional gain makes up a large part of the quarter's profit. Net profit rose 78.5% to ₹45.86 crore from ₹25.69 crore, while total income rose 22.8%. The exceptional gain of ₹35.32 crore equals 57.7% of profit before tax of ₹61.22 crore. Before exceptional items, profit before tax was ₹25.91 crore against ₹13.43 crore a year earlier, a rise of 92.9%.

The notes say the exceptional gain relates to the fire at the Rajkot plant on 11 Dec 2024 and was recognised after the insurance company confirmed final claim approval. The company received ₹37.46 crore from the insurer during FY 2025-26, and the claim receivable was settled on 12 Oct 2026, after quarter-end.

Other lines moved in different directions. Finance costs rose 81.8% to ₹3.53 crore, equal to 0.8% of total income, and depreciation rose 36.2% to ₹12.28 crore. Other income fell to ₹0.11 crore, which is 0.2% of profit before tax. Tax expense of ₹15.37 crore equals 25.1% of profit before tax.

For the half year ended 30 Sep 2026, the company reported total income of ₹884.64 crore and net profit of ₹58.70 crore. The notes say the company operates primarily in the food products segment, which it treats as a single unit under Ind AS 108. The statutory auditors, Maheshwari & Co., issued an unmodified limited review opinion on the results.

    Inference

The board declared a first interim dividend of ₹0.50 per share, face value ₹1.00, for FY 2026-27, with a record date of 6 Nov 2026 and payment on or before 30 Nov 2026. The trading window opens on 5 Nov 2026. Based on paid-up equity capital of ₹124.67 million, the dividend would come to about ₹6.23 crore.

The filing does not explain the rise in cost of materials and other expenses relative to revenue, the increase in other current assets to ₹1,140.89 million from ₹746.69 million, or the high deferred tax charge in the quarter, and it is not known whether any further fire-related amounts remain outstanding.
