Income grew faster than profit this year. Total income rose 34.5% to ₹4,954.41 crore, while net profit rose 29.2% to ₹504.22 crore, so the net profit margin slipped from 10.59% to 10.18%. Tax expense rose 35.1% to ₹177.24 crore, faster than profit before tax, and the tax charge was 26.0% of profit before tax.
Other income is small against the operating business. At ₹12.07 crore it is 0.2% of total income and 1.8% of profit before tax, so the quarter's result rests on revenue from operations of ₹4,942.33 crore. Finance costs of ₹71.42 crore are 1.4% of total income and rose only 1.3% on the year-earlier quarter.
Against the June 2026 quarter, profit fell more than income. Net profit dropped 33.8% from ₹761.50 crore and profit before tax dropped 30.7% from ₹983.10 crore, while total income fell 2.6%. The filing does not explain this change.
The filing's exceptional item, the one-time impact of the new labour codes, was ₹86.83 crore in the year ended 31 Mar 2026 and nil in the quarters shown. Its nature and amount in the current quarter are not stated.
Consolidated segment revenue this quarter was ₹2,079.45 crore for Chemicals, ₹2,122.39 crore for Performance Films and Foil and ₹595.11 crore for Technical Textiles. The auditors did not review the interim information of seven subsidiaries and relied on other auditors' reports, and the management says four unreviewed subsidiaries are not material to the group.
Inference
The filing reports half-year dividends paid on equity shares of ₹71.40 crore, against ₹58.57 crore a year earlier, and a gain of ₹802.28 crore on the sale of long-term strategic investments in the standalone half-year cash flow statement. The filing does not give the standalone quarterly profit and loss figures, earnings per share, or the split of profit between owners and non-controlling interest.
