Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has told the exchanges that its board, at a meeting on 14 Oct 2026, approved the standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half year ended 30 Sep 2026. Standalone net profit for the September quarter was ₹1,880.89 crore, against ₹638.67 crore a year earlier, and revenue from operations rose 37% to ₹35,590.40 crore from ₹25,953.34 crore.
Revenue was 14% below the ₹41,608.96 crore of the June 2026 quarter, while profit was more than twice the ₹914.82 crore of that quarter. Profit before exceptional items and tax was ₹2,637.69 crore, against ₹974.66 crore. Basic and diluted earnings per share were ₹10.73, against ₹3.64, and the operating margin was 8.82%, against 4.93%.
The September quarter includes an exceptional charge of ₹118.76 crore for a fire at the Coker Hydrotreater Unit in Phase III of the refinery. The company says this is a provisional estimate covering the carrying value of the damaged plant and equipment and losses on inventories and incidental expenses, and that the affected assets are adequately insured. The June quarter had exceptional income of ₹471.76 crore from a revision of petroleum product prices on earlier supplies, so the half year shows net exceptional income of ₹353.00 crore.
For the half year, revenue from operations was ₹77,199.36 crore against ₹46,941.87 crore a year earlier, and net profit was ₹2,795.71 crore against ₹366.70 crore. The company has also chosen the lower income tax rate from 2026-27, which brings its effective rate to 25.168%, against 34.944% earlier. The board declared an interim dividend of ₹3 per share, covered in a separate article.
Inference
Revenue and profit moved in opposite directions from the June quarter: revenue was lower while profit was higher. Profit before exceptional items was about 2.7 times its year-earlier level, so most of the rise does not come from the exceptional items, which in this quarter were a charge.
The fire loss is a provisional estimate, and the company says it will review and recognise the loss as the assessment develops. The filing says the affected assets are insured, and it does not state how much of the loss it expects to recover.
