Figures are in ₹ crore; YoY compares with Q2 FY26 and QoQ with Q1 FY27. Click Total income or Net profit to see the rows behind them.
Income grew on both lines, but profit before tax was only ₹3 crore. Revenue from operations rose 31.7% YoY to ₹324 crore, while other income was flat at ₹4 crore. Depreciation rose 23.5% YoY to ₹21 crore, and finance costs were ₹3 crore, in line with the year-earlier quarter.
The quarter's profit is small against the Q1 FY27 base of ₹200 crore before tax. Standalone other income of ₹4 crore equals 133.3% of profit before tax of ₹3 crore, so the quarter's profit before tax would have been a loss without it. Tax was a credit of ₹3 crore, which the notes say is considered in the tax lines together with deferred tax of ₹3 crore; the tax line therefore added to net profit.
Exceptional items net to ₹3 crore for the quarter. These include a ₹13 crore provision for expected cost of disposing of part of the investment in K12 Techno Services Private Limited, offset in part by a ₹15 crore share of fair value gain through FVTPL, net of tax, from the investment held through Navneet Learning LLP.
Segment revenue rose in both lines. Publishing content was ₹140 crore against ₹91 crore a year earlier, and stationery products were ₹184 crore against ₹155 crore. The company states that its business is seasonal, so quarterly results are not representative of the whole year.
Inference
The board declared an interim dividend of ₹1.50 and a special dividend of ₹1.50 per equity share for FY 2026-27, each 75% of the ₹2 face value. Both are to be paid on or before 03 Dec 2026 to shareholders on the record date of 11 Nov 2026.
The company's composite scheme of arrangement with Indiannica Learning Private Limited, approved by the board on 08 Jan 2026, awaits NCLT approval, and the filing says no effect has been given in these results. The timing of that approval and its effect on the financials are not stated.
The reason for the fall in profit before tax from the year-earlier quarter is not stated, and nor is the expected impact of seasonality on later quarters.
