One97 Communications Q2 FY27 Results: Consolidated Net Profit ₹225 Crore on Total Income of ₹2,830 Crore

Consolidated net profit rose 971.4% to ₹225 crore, while total income rose 24.0%. Revenue from operations grew 28.5% to ₹2,648 crore, while other income fell 18.0% to ₹182 crore, so other income is 6.4% of total income and 62.3% of profit before tax.

Tax expense rose to ₹67 crore from ₹9 crore a year earlier and was 22.9% of profit before tax, against 30.0% in the year-ago quarter. Deferred tax expense includes ₹23 crore for the previous year and ₹5 crore for the previous quarter, recorded on completion of an income tax assessment for one subsidiary.

The only exceptional item in the quarter is the ₹4 crore write-off of obsolete capital work-in-progress. Finance costs of ₹7 crore are 0.2% of total income. Net profit rose 2.3% over the previous quarter, slower than total income's 7.6% rise.

The filing's review report draws attention to a Show Cause Notice from the Directorate of Enforcement alleging FEMA contraventions of about ₹611 crore by the company and two subsidiaries. The company says it has recorded provision for related compounding fees on best estimates, and that the effect of the remaining matters cannot be assessed pending final outcome.

Standalone net profit was ₹169 crore, against a loss of ₹264 crore in the year-ago quarter, which included impairments of the investment in and loan to the JV of ₹205 crore and ₹190 crore. Standalone net profit fell 8.6% over the previous quarter, while total income rose 10.7%.

Revenue from operations fell 28.7% year on year to ₹1,199 crore, more than other income, which fell 26.9% to ₹133 crore. Other income is 10.0% of total income. Depreciation was ₹17 crore against ₹134 crore a year earlier. Tax expense was ₹18 crore, 9.6% of profit before tax of ₹187 crore.

The statement says results for the quarter and half year are not comparable with the year-ago periods because the offline merchant payment aggregator business was transferred to Paytm Payments Services Limited on a slump sale for ₹975 crore, effective midnight 30 Nov 2025.

Inference

The filing says the board approved investments of up to ₹500 crore each in Paytm Cloud Technologies Limited and its subsidiary Paytm Singapore Pte. Ltd over the next twelve months, to support working capital, investments and business expansion.

The filing says Net IPO proceeds of ₹8,119 crore, of which ₹6,633 crore was utilised up to 30 Sep 2026 and ₹1,486 crore remained unutilised. The reason for the year-ago impairments and the timing of the MDR implementation date are not stated.
