JSW Cement Limited has told the exchanges that on 16 Oct 2026 the Orissa High Court at Cuttack allowed the company's Writ Petition No. 36871 of 2020 against the State of Orissa on reimbursement of incentives under the Industrial Policy Resolution, 2015. The company had challenged an amendment of 18 Aug 2020 that retrospectively excluded cement manufacturing and grinding units from reimbursement of State GST with effect from 1 Jul 2017.

The court held that the company is treated as having deemed approval of its application dated 16 Aug 2017 for Priority Sector status under the policy, and set aside the amendment, calling it arbitrary, unconstitutional and contrary to promissory estoppel and legitimate expectation. It found that the company's claims for SGST reimbursement under Clause 5.4.5(a) had accrued and crystallised, and directed that the claim, with interest, be determined and released within four weeks.
