    Inference

PNB Gilts deals in government securities, and the filing shows its fair-value gains and losses on securities among the lines that move the quarterly result. The year-ago quarter's loss and this quarter's profit are the main swing in the figures.

Quarterly profits of a company with a trading portfolio can vary widely from one quarter to another, and the filing does not give reasons or guidance. Investors may want to look at the full statement and the notes to see how much of the result came from interest income and how much from changes in the value of securities.
