Schneider Electric Infrastructure (NSE: SCHNEIDER) has received an Order-in-Appeal from the Office of the Commissioner (Appeals), Central Goods and Services Tax, Gurugram, which rejected its appeal against a rectification order on a GST demand. The tax demand is ₹3.05 crore and the penalty ₹32.34 lakh, it said in a filing on 3 Nov 2026.

The order rejects the company's appeal

The Commissioner (Appeals) has rejected the company's appeal against the Rectification Order dated 11 Jun 2025, as infructuous. Order-in-Appeal No. 283/CGST/APPL/GGM/VM/2026-27 is dated 30 Oct 2026 and was passed under Section 107(11) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the corresponding provisions of the Haryana Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The company received it on 2 Nov 2026 at 1:49 p.m. IST.

The filing places the order in an earlier history. The Commissioner noted that the first appellate order, OIA No. 125 dated 25 Sep 2024, had already upheld OIO No. 06 dated 11 Dec 2023, so the appeal was liable to be rejected without entering into the merits of the dispute. The filing refers to the company's earlier intimations of 21 Oct 2024 and 12 Jun 2025 on the same matter.

The underlying proceedings concern alleged excess availment of input tax credit and alleged non-payment of GST on unreconciled turnover for financial year 2017-18.

    What the amounts are

After rectification of the demand order, the tax demand is ₹3.05 crore and the penalty is ₹32.34 lakh, with applicable interest on top. The filing gives the underlying amount involved as ₹3.38 crore, comprising tax and penalty, along with applicable interest. The amount of interest is not stated.

The company made a pre-deposit of ₹30.54 lakh while filing the present appeal, about 10.0% of the tax demand. Against the company's market value of ₹27,248 crore at the 3 Nov 2026 close, the amounts are a small fraction of its size.

What the order means for Schneider Electric Infrastructure's shareholders

The company says there is no material impact on its financials, operations or other routine business activities, and that the impact will be limited to the extent of liability as per the Order. It is evaluating the order and appropriate legal remedy.

Not stated: the amount of interest payable, the grounds on which the company will seek legal remedy, and the timeline for any further appeal. The filing gives no date for the next step.
