Consolidated net profit grew faster than total income over the year: net profit rose 25.4% against 21.8% for total income, while profit before tax rose 29.8%. Revenue from operations rose 21.9% and other income fell 5.2%, so the top line in this quarter is almost entirely sales, with other income at 0.4% of total income.
Tax expense rose 45.8% to ₹150.97 crore, which is 24.4% of profit before tax of ₹619.06 crore, against 21.7% a year earlier when tax was ₹103.56 crore on ₹476.98 crore. Depreciation rose 29.2% to ₹419.80 crore, and finance costs of ₹44.28 crore are 0.8% of total income.
Against the previous quarter, consolidated net profit fell 9.6% while total income rose 2.0%. The consolidated share of loss of associates and joint ventures under the equity method was ₹21.06 crore in the quarter, and the filing does not give the reason for that loss.

Standalone net profit rose 8.6%, slower than total income at 20.2% and profit before tax at 12.0%. Revenue from operations rose 22.5%, while other income fell 71.4% from ₹119.21 crore to ₹34.15 crore, so the year-on-year comparison of other income is much lower than a year earlier.
Standalone tax expense of ₹155.24 crore is 24.1% of profit before tax of ₹644.89 crore. Depreciation rose 27.2% to ₹401.01 crore. Consolidated net profit of ₹468.09 crore is ₹21.56 crore below standalone net profit of ₹489.65 crore for the quarter.
The standalone exceptional items of ₹25.79 crore relate to the year ended 31 Mar 2026, not to this quarter; the filing ties them to the consolidation of 29 labour legislations into four labour codes, effective 21 Nov 2025.
The company states that its main business is retailing and trading of merchandise, with no separate reportable segments. The board approved the results at its meeting on 29 Oct 2026, and Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP carried out a limited review of both sets of results and issued unmodified conclusions.
Standalone net worth stood at ₹8,524.31 crore and consolidated net worth at ₹7,769.47 crore as at 30 Sep 2026. Standalone dividend paid in the six months was ₹212.79 crore. The company issued one bonus share for every two held in the six months, and EPS for all periods has been adjusted for it.
Inference
The filing confirms a bonus issue of one share for every two held and dividend payments of ₹212.79 crore in the six months, and it reports net worth of ₹8,524.31 crore standalone. It also records the redemption of 5,000 debentures of ₹10 lakh each, carrying 5.78% interest, on 29 May 2026.
The filing does not say whether a dividend has been declared for this quarter or its record date, nor why the standalone other income fell so sharply, which a reader would want to know.
