Net profit rose 80.0% YoY, faster than total income, which rose 6.9%. The loss before tax narrowed from ₹464.97 crore to ₹80.64 crore, and provisions fell from ₹461.65 crore to ₹165.89 crore.
Other income of ₹93.02 crore is 9.3% of total income this quarter, against ₹97.35 crore a year earlier. Interest expended was ₹473.95 crore in the quarter, so the bank's interest cost sat well below its interest earned of ₹909.26 crore.
The filing says the provision for non-performing advances under the CGFMU guarantee was reassessed, making the quarter's provision lower by ₹29.21 crore and the loss before tax lower by the same amount. The filing also says a revised leave policy reversed ₹25.61 crore of leave liability provision. Both notes are stated in the filing; the quarter's figures are shown side by side with them, and the filing does not quantify their effect on the quarter's net loss beyond these amounts.
Net profit fell 105.9% QoQ while total income was flat. Tax credit was ₹10.79 crore, against ₹11.50 crore in Q1 FY27. Against Q1 FY27's loss of ₹33.92 crore, the quarter's loss was ₹69.85 crore.
Gross NPA stood at 5.96% of gross advances and net NPA at 2.74% of net advances as at 30 Sep 2026, against 7.71% and 3.29% at 31 Mar 2026. The capital adequacy ratio was 17.05%, and the debt to equity ratio 0.74 times.
The statement carries no consolidated results because the bank has no subsidiary, associate or joint venture, and the filing says consolidation is not applicable.
Inference
The filing says the bank issued ₹300 crore of rated, listed, unsecured, subordinated Lower Tier II Non-Convertible Debentures on 25 Sep 2026 and redeemed ₹95 crore of debentures at par, approved by the Capital Structuring and Fund Raise Committee on 21 Jul 2026. Net worth stood at ₹1,933.14 crore at 30 Sep 2026.
The merger of the promoter company Utkarsh Core Invest Limited with the bank is pending before NCLT, with the next hearing fixed for 19 Nov 2026 and an income tax reply pending. The filing does not say what the outcome of that hearing will be, or when the merger would take effect.
