Wipro reported consolidated total income of ₹25,508.20 crore and net profit of ₹3,199.70 crore for the quarter ended 30 Sep 2026. Standalone total income was ₹19,612.10 crore and net profit was ₹2,862.70 crore.

Earnings per share rose because the share count fell, not because profit grew. Net profit attributable to owners fell 1.9% to ₹3,199.70 crore, but earnings per share rose 4.2% to ₹3.23. The profit and EPS imply about 990.6 crore shares against about 1,052 crore a year ago (derived), about 5.9% fewer, after the buyback of 60 crore shares at ₹250 a share, a cash outflow of about ₹15,051 crore including transaction costs. The tender ran from 11 to 17 June 2026 and the shares were extinguished on 25 June 2026; paid-up capital fell to ₹1,981 crore from ₹2,097 crore.

Costs outside operations grew faster than revenue. Revenue from operations rose 9.1% to ₹24,752.70 crore, but depreciation rose 26.7% to ₹876.70 crore and finance costs 51.0% to ₹545.40 crore, while other income fell 20.3% to ₹755.50 crore, so the net margin slipped to 12.54% from 13.80%. For H1 FY27 profit attributable to owners is ₹6,556.0 crore against ₹6,598.9 crore, on revenue of ₹49,231.3 crore against ₹44,831.9 crore.

The parent's profit rose while the group's fell. Standalone net profit rose 9.5% to ₹2,862.70 crore against the group's 1.9% fall, and earnings per share rose 15.6% to ₹2.89, so the rest of the group together earned less than a year ago (derived from the gap); the filing text read does not break this out. Standalone revenue grew 6.6% and tax took 25.8% of profit before tax against 22.5% in June.

The statutory auditors, Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP, gave an unmodified opinion. The notes record the buyback proposal approved by the board on 16 April 2026 and by shareholders through a postal ballot, and a reversal of an impairment of an investment in a subsidiary in the previous year.

Inference

Wipro's profit is slightly lower than a year ago, and the rise in earnings per share comes from a buyback that cut the share count by about 6%.

Depreciation and finance costs are rising faster than revenue; the filing does not explain why or break the group's result down by segment in the text read.
