Yes Bank Limited has replied to NSE, which sought a clarification on a CNBC-TV18 report of 15 Oct 2026 headlined "Yes Bank share price sees sharp fall of 10% after Supreme Court ruling on 8,400 crore AT-1 bond write-off". The bank says the matter concerns court proceedings on the write-down of Additional Tier-1 (AT-1) bonds aggregating ₹8,415 crore, which it carried out in March 2020.
The bank sets out the history: it informed the exchanges of the write-down on 14 Mar 2020, writ petitions challenged it in the Bombay High Court, and on 20 Jan 2023 it reported that the High Court had set aside the decision to write down the bonds, with the operation of the judgment stayed for a period. On 15 Oct 2026 the Supreme Court pronounced its judgment in the appeals arising from the High Court's judgment.
The bank says it is obtaining and examining the final order copy and assessing its implications, and will make further disclosure as required. It says it is not aware of any information, other than the judgment and what is in the public domain, that could explain the movement in its share price, and that it has not failed to disclose any material event.
Inference
The filing does not say what the Supreme Court decided or how it affects the bank, and the bank itself says it is still reading the order. The effect on the bank, if any, is therefore not known from this announcement.
AT-1 bonds are a form of regulatory capital that banks can write down in certain conditions, and the dispute is about whether the March 2020 write-down was valid. Shareholders may want to wait for the bank's own assessment, which it says it will disclose, rather than rely on press headlines about the ruling.
