Consolidated net profit rose 39.2% YoY while total income rose 12.6%, and profit before tax fell 9.7%. The gap between the two profit measures sits in tax: the consolidated tax line is a credit of ₹31.23 crore against a charge of ₹38.20 crore a year earlier, so profit after tax moved differently from profit before tax.
The consolidated tax line includes the effect of the Scheme of Arrangement, which the notes put at a current tax credit of ₹96 crore and a deferred tax charge of ₹31 crore for the quarter. Net of those two items the scheme adds ₹65 crore of credit. The notes do not say whether these amounts will recur.
Finance costs of ₹46.42 crore are 5.2% of consolidated total income, down from ₹49.55 crore a year earlier. Other income of ₹3.20 crore is 2.1% of profit before tax. Consolidated EPS of ₹13.26 compares with ₹8.82 a year earlier and ₹10.28 in the previous quarter.
The consolidated figures carry a ₹35.90 crore exceptional item for a settlement with customers over products launched at risk in earlier periods. The notes describe it as a write down of amounts due from those customers, net of collections and past provisions.
