Income grew faster than profit. Total income rose 19.8% year on year to ₹784 crore, but net profit fell 43.3% to ₹29.65 crore. Profit before tax fell 42.1% to ₹40.52 crore from ₹69.97 crore a year earlier, and tax expense fell 38.4% to ₹10.87 crore.

Finance costs rose from ₹11.23 crore to ₹15.36 crore, or 36.8%, and depreciation rose 30.6% to ₹9.21 crore. Finance costs were 1.9% of total income this quarter. Other income of ₹4.96 crore was 12.2% of profit before tax, against ₹4.44 crore a year earlier.

Against the previous quarter, the picture is different: total income rose 19.1% from ₹658.27 crore and net profit rose from ₹12.44 crore. The tax expense was 26.8% of profit before tax this quarter. The filing does not give the reasons for the change in revenue, finance costs or profit.

The year-ago quarter was not reported as affected by any one-off item in the filing. The only exceptional item disclosed is a ₹14.17 crore gratuity charge for the year ended 31 Mar 2026, which the company says is non-recurring.

    Inference

The filing shows paid-up equity share capital of ₹47.82 crore at a face value of ₹2 each, and cash and cash equivalents of ₹247.52 crore at 30 Sep 2026, down from ₹357.85 crore at 31 Mar 2026. Non-current borrowings were ₹455.69 crore, against ₹443.76 crore at 31 Mar 2026, and inventories rose to ₹536.08 crore from ₹420.68 crore.

The filing does not say why inventories rose or cash fell over the half year, or whether the gratuity charge will recur in later periods.
