Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Q2 FY27 Results: Standalone Net Profit ₹265 Crore

Standalone net profit was ₹264.81 crore for the quarter ended 30 Sep 2026, against ₹79.58 crore a year earlier and ₹549.74 crore in the June 2026 quarter. Net profit rose 232.8% from a year earlier, faster than profit before tax, which rose 215.0% from ₹111.63 crore to ₹351.64 crore. Earnings per share, basic, were ₹4.50 against ₹1.35 a year earlier.

Other income was ₹6.16 crore, against ₹7.51 crore in the June 2026 quarter and ₹1.30 crore a year earlier, and it was 1.8% of profit before tax. Finance costs were ₹15.16 crore, against ₹12.82 crore in the June quarter and ₹13.80 crore a year earlier. The filing presents the year-earlier quarter under Ind AS, which the company adopted from FY 2026-27 with a transition date of 1 Apr 2025.

In a note on net interest accretion, the company says it reassessed and restated ₹38.82 crore recognised on long-term policies in the June 2026 quarter, with no impact on net financial results. The company also says quarterly results are not indicative of full-year performance, in view of the seasonality of the industry, and that claims are typically higher in the monsoon period. Employee stock option compensation cost was ₹23.58 crore for the quarter and ₹36.07 crore for the half year.

Inference

During the quarter the company exercised a call option on its ₹400 crore non-convertible debentures and redeemed them in full, together with interest. The board also approved reclassifying Sthitaprajna Advisors LLP from the Promoter Group category to the Public Shareholder category.

The joint statutory auditors, T R Chadha & Co LLP and MSKA & Associates LLP, carried out a limited review and said nothing had come to their attention that causes them to believe the statement has not been prepared in accordance with the applicable accounting principles.

The filing does not say why other income and profit before tax moved between the three quarters.
