Azad Engineering Limited has told the exchanges that Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has approved it as a long-term source and awarded it a two-year long-term rate contract for the supply of critical stationary and rotating airfoils, or blades, for heavy-duty gas turbines. The estimated value of the contract is about ₹52.68 crore, and the company made the disclosure on 12 Oct 2026 under Regulation 30 of the SEBI listing rules.
The company says it had executed a similar rate contract with BHEL earlier, in May 2026, which at the time it assessed as not material and so did not disclose. Considering the combined value and duration of the arrangement, it now treats it as material. The filing gives the contract’s period as ending on 9 Oct 2028, and describes it as a domestic order. It adds that the approval is an important step in the company’s role in India’s domestic power generation equipment ecosystem and supports BHEL’s indigenisation of critical gas turbine components.
Inference
A rate contract fixes the prices at which BHEL can order the parts over the contract period, but it does not guarantee how many it will order. The value of ₹52.68 crore is the company’s estimate.
The filing treats this contract together with the earlier one as material, so the disclosure covers more than a single order. It does not give the value of the earlier contract.
