Emami Limited has told the exchanges that it published its post-buyback public announcement, dated 10 Oct 2026, in newspapers on 12 Oct 2026, as the SEBI buyback regulations require. The announcement reports the completion of the company’s open-market buyback of equity shares of ₹1 face value through the stock exchange mechanism.

The board approved the buyback on 17 Sep 2026 for up to ₹282 crore (₹28,200 lakh), at a price of up to ₹475 per share. The buyback opened on 22 Sep 2026 and closed on 9 Oct 2026. The company used ₹281.24 crore, which is 99.73% of the maximum size, to buy back 73,00,000 equity shares. The average price was ₹385.26 per share, with the highest at ₹403.37 and the lowest at ₹374.89. The company says it will extinguish the shares on or before 20 Oct 2026.

The announcement shows the promoter and promoter group holding 23,93,93,412 shares, or 54.84%, before the buyback and 55.78% after it, because the number of shares falls. The company’s issued and paid-up share capital goes from 43,65,00,000 shares to 42,92,00,000 shares. IIFL Capital Services Limited, formerly IIFL Securities Limited, was the merchant banker.

    Inference

The company bought nearly all the amount it had set aside, but at an average price about 19% below the ceiling of ₹475. Retiring 73 lakh shares cuts the share count by about 1.7%.

The promoter group’s percentage rises from 54.84% to 55.78% even though the number of shares it holds is unchanged, because the total number of shares falls. The announcement states that the shares were bought on the open market, so the identity of the sellers is not known.
