Indian Bank has reported unaudited, reviewed results for the second quarter and half year of FY2026-27. Standalone net profit for the September quarter was ₹3,462.24 crore, up about 14.7% from ₹3,018.22 crore in the same quarter a year earlier and from ₹3,273.09 crore in the June 2026 quarter. Total income was ₹23,058.62 crore against ₹19,076.57 crore a year earlier, a rise of about 20.9%.

For the half year, net profit was ₹6,735.33 crore against ₹5,991.04 crore, a rise of about 12.4%, and total income was ₹43,782.24 crore against ₹37,797.88 crore. The net profit margin was 15.01% for the quarter against 15.82% a year earlier.

The board also approved a fund-raising plan other than equity: long-term infrastructure bonds of up to ₹5,000 crore, for financing and refinancing infrastructure and affordable housing, and Basel III compliant AT1 or Tier 2 bonds of up to ₹2,000 crore, in one or more tranches in the current or later financial years.

    Inference

Profit rose by less than total income, which is why the net profit margin is a little lower than a year ago. The filing does not explain the difference, which could come from interest costs, provisions or other lines.

The bond plan is an enabling approval: the bank may raise the money in tranches when it needs to, and the filing does not say when or at what rates. Shareholders may want to follow the bank's capital ratios and the timing of any issue, since AT1 and Tier 2 bonds count towards regulatory capital.
