Profit fell much faster than income. Total income rose 3.0% year on year, but net profit fell 87.9%, and profit before tax fell 86.2%. Revenue from operations grew 3.3%, while other income fell 8.0%.

Other income of ₹15.63 crore equals 95.4% of profit before tax of ₹16.38 crore. Finance costs of ₹1.33 crore are only 0.2% of total income, so borrowing is not a material drag on the quarter.

Tax took 35.3% of profit before tax this quarter, against 26.1% a year earlier. The filing does not explain the sharp fall in profit before tax against the year-earlier quarter.

The company says segment information for the comparative periods has been restated after a revised internal reporting structure, and those comparatives have not been subjected to limited review or audit.

    Inference

The board approved a buyback of up to 68,37,210 equity shares at ₹215 each, for up to ₹147.00 crore excluding transaction costs, through the tender offer route. The buyback size is 9.70% of paid-up capital and free reserves as per audited accounts for FY ended 31 Mar 2026, within the 10% statutory limit under the board approval route. The promoter and promoter group have said they do not intend to participate. The record date is Wednesday, 11 Nov 2026, and the public announcement and letter of offer will be released in due course.

The filing does not state the reason for the buyback, the number of shares actually bought back, or the payment timetable. The company paid ₹128.53 crore in dividends in the half year, the same as a year earlier.
