Kalpataru Projects International Limited has told the exchanges that the Principal Commissioner (Appeals) has partially allowed its appeal against a GST order for FY2017-18 to FY2019-20. The order was received on 12 Oct 2026 at about 5:12 PM. The appeal reduces the tax and interest demand, and the penalty is reduced to ₹0.14 crore.

The original order, which the company disclosed on 11 Jan 2024, demanded tax of ₹1.83 crore and a penalty of ₹0.21 crore, plus interest, on grounds of an alleged excess claim of input tax credit (ITC) and a mismatch between ITC availed in GSTR-3B and ITC available in GSTR-2A. The filing does not give the revised tax and interest figures.

The company says it has a strong case before the higher appellate authority because the order was issued without considering its reply and documentary evidence, and that it will file a further appeal within the prescribed time.

    Inference

The amounts involved are small, ₹0.14 crore of penalty and a tax demand originally of ₹1.83 crore, next to the company's reported annual revenue of ₹27,143 crore for FY2026. The filing shows the dispute moving in the company's favour in part.

The matter is still open, since the company plans to appeal further against the part of the order that remains. Shareholders may want to watch for any later disclosure, though the amounts suggest a limited effect on the company's finances.
