Lenskart Solutions Limited has told the exchanges that on 15 Oct 2026 it received an Order-in-Original, dated 18 Sep 2026, from the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs at the Air Cargo Complex, IGI Airport, New Delhi. The order concerns the classification of certain imported optical eyeframes with clip-on.

The order demands differential customs duty of ₹6,58,91,195 and imposes a penalty of ₹6,58,34,665, which together come to ₹13,17,25,860, or about ₹13.17 crore. Interest also applies, but the order does not quantify it, so it is not included in that figure.

The company had classified the product under HSN 9003, the eyeframe category. The authority rejected that classification and reclassified it under HSN 9004, then worked out the duty, interest and penalty on the relevant Bills of Entry.

Lenskart says it classified the product based on its nature, value composition and functionality, supported by a legal opinion. It believes the order is contestable, intends to challenge it before the appropriate appellate authority, and expects a favourable outcome.

The company says the order has no material impact on its operations. It adds that it had already disclosed this matter as a contingent liability in its audited financial statements for the year ended March 2026.

    Inference

The order is a demand and a penalty, not a final settled liability. Lenskart says it intends to challenge the order before the appropriate appellate authority, and that it has already disclosed the matter as a contingent liability in its audited financial statements for the year ended March 2026.

The ₹13.17 crore does not include interest, which the order does not quantify. The company says the order has no material impact on its operations, and the outcome of the appeal is not known. Shareholders may want to watch for developments in the appeal and for how the matter is described in later results.
