Midwest Limited has told the exchanges on 7 Oct 2026 that on 6 Oct 2026 at 3:53 PM it received a Prohibitory Order from the Director of Mines Safety, Hyderabad Region No. 3, Directorate General of Mines Safety, after a site inspection citing the collapse of a side of the mine at Chimakurthy. The order is issued under Section 38(1)(B)(c) and (d) of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.

It prohibits extraction of granite and the employment of persons at the company’s Midwest Granite Mine at Chimakurthy, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh, until the danger is removed.

    Inference

Work at this mine has stopped until the regulator is satisfied that the danger is cleared. The filing in the part reviewed here does not say how long this will take or what share of the company’s output the mine accounts for.
