Optiemus Infracom Limited has told the exchanges that the Operations and Administration Committee of its board, at a meeting on 12 Oct 2026 that ran from 5:30 PM to 5:50 PM, approved its becoming a surety or guarantor and executing a bond in favour of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs for an amount not exceeding ₹30 crore. The bond is on behalf of its wholly owned subsidiary, Optiemus Electronics Limited.

The bond is meant to secure shipments by Optiemus Electronics of hearable and wearable devices, mobile phones, telecom products and mobile PCBs, so that it can import goods at a concessional rate of duty under the IGCR scheme and comply with customs regulations. The company says the promoter and promoter group have no interest in the transaction and that the surety will be given on an arm’s length basis.

    Inference

A surety means the parent could be called on to pay the customs authority if the subsidiary fails to meet its obligations. Until then, it is a commitment of up to ₹30 crore and not a payment.

The concessional duty is the benefit that the bond is meant to unlock. The filing does not quantify the duty saving or the amount of imports it covers.
