Bharat Coking Coal Limited has told the exchanges that a litigation has become material and is being disclosed under Regulation 30 of the SEBI listing rules. The Supreme Court of India, by an order dated 8 Oct 2026, dismissed the company’s petition against an order dated 8 Aug 2024 of the High Court of Jharkhand. The company made the disclosure on 14 Oct 2026.

The dispute arises from a contract awarded to AT-Libra BPL (JV), a project-specific joint venture, after a tender notice dated 27 Dec 2010 for hiring heavy earth moving machinery to remove and rehandle overburden and transport coal at the Golukdih NC Project in Dhanbad. The High Court had affirmed a decree dated 8 May 2023 of the Commercial Court, Dhanbad, directing Bharat Coking Coal to pay ₹46.20 crore with interest at 10.5% per annum.

The company says its counsel has advised it to file a review petition against the Supreme Court’s order. It says it will report further developments as the rules require.

    Inference

The Supreme Court’s order leaves the lower court’s decree in place, so the company remains directed to pay ₹46.20 crore with interest at 10.5% a year unless a review succeeds. The filing does not state the date from which interest runs, so the full amount payable is not given.

The filing also does not say whether the company has set aside money for this liability. A review petition is a limited remedy, and the company says only that it has been advised to file one.
