Profit fell while income rose. Consolidated total income of ₹823.74 crore was 28.4% above the previous quarter, but net profit fell 41.0% to ₹34.99 crore. Profit before tax went from ₹78.45 crore to ₹47.09 crore, while the tax share moved from 24.4% to 25.7%, so the tax rate changed little between the two quarters. The filing does not explain the fall in profit before tax.
Other income of ₹12.64 crore is 1.5% of total income and 26.8% of profit before tax, so the quarter's pre-tax profit rests mainly on operating income rather than on other income. Finance costs of ₹42.47 crore were 3.5% lower than in Q1 FY27 and are 5.2% of total income. Net profit of ₹34.99 crore includes ₹34.68 crore attributable to owners, the rest being ₹31.09 lakh attributable to non-controlling interests.
The year-ago quarter was a loss of ₹37.94 crore with EPS of minus ₹5.37, so the rise in profit against Q2 FY26 is measured from a low base. Against the previous quarter, basic EPS fell 39.4% from ₹6.67 to ₹4.04.

Standalone revenue from operations of ₹802.61 crore is 668.3% above ₹104.47 crore in the same quarter a year earlier, and the year-ago base was low. Other income of ₹12.56 crore is 1.5% of total income and 27.3% of profit before tax of ₹46.03 crore.
Standalone net profit of ₹34.42 crore fell 37.4% from the previous quarter while total income rose 29.3%. Standalone tax expense of ₹11.62 crore is 25.2% of profit before tax, against 25.0% in Q1 FY27. Consolidated net profit is ₹0.57 crore higher than standalone, and consolidated total income is ₹8.57 crore higher.
Beyond the tables, the filing describes Unit 5 as a slump sale to Onkar Agro Sugars & Energy Private Limited at a preliminary offer of ₹171 crore. The assets are classified as held for sale at ₹193.23 crore, made up of ₹158.23 crore of fixed assets and a ₹35 crore capital advance. The company is still identifying the final list of assets and liabilities and finalising the terms. The preliminary offer is ₹22.23 crore below the carrying amount of these assets. The filing also records a prior period adjustment of ₹10.54 crore in other expenses under Ind AS 8, for the quarter and year ended 31 Mar 2026. Exceptional items are nil for the quarter. The auditor draws attention to the balancing-figure treatment of the quarter, and the conclusion is not modified.
Inference
The results show consolidated and standalone profit well below the previous quarter, with income up in both, and the filing gives no per-share guidance. The Unit 5 slump sale would move ₹193.23 crore of held-for-sale assets out of the business if completed, but the final price, the completion date and the effect on future results are not stated.
Gaps the filing leaves open: the reason for the sharp rise in standalone revenue, the reason for the losses in the quarter a year ago, the reason for the Unit 5 sale, and the nature of the ₹10.54 crore prior period adjustment beyond the reference to Ind AS 8.
