Voltas Limited has told the exchanges that the Maharashtra GST authority has dropped a show cause notice it received in September. The notice, dated 18 Sep 2026 and issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Andheri East, Mumbai, alleged wrongful availment of input tax credit and short payment of tax for the financial year 2022-23. It asked why tax of ₹15.43 crore should not be demanded along with interest and penalty of ₹14.79 crore.

The company first reported the notice on 21 Sep 2026. It says that, based on its detailed submissions, the authority accepted its contention in an order dated 9 Oct 2026 and dropped the notice, which the company describes as complete relief. The order was received after office hours on Friday, 9 Oct 2026, so the company filed the disclosure on Monday, 12 Oct 2026, the first working day after receipt.

    Inference

The notice sought a total of about ₹30 crore, made up of tax of ₹15.43 crore and interest and penalty of ₹14.79 crore. With the notice dropped, the filing shows no liability remaining on this matter.

The filing does not say whether the department can challenge the order. It is a disclosure of the outcome only.
